Broken Pieces (White Creek #2) by Tori Fox
I've been broken. Time and again.
I'm tired of pretending I'm happy. Even when he makes it seem easy. But my heart is incapable of loving again.
She thinks she can't love.
That there is nothing left in her to give to anyone.
But I would give anything to love her. If only my demons can stay in the past.
Brooks, for all his bluster and being kind of an asshole at the beginning, actually turned out to be an okay guy. He still did some sketchy shit as a kid, let's face it there is really only one reason you buy or sell what he was peddling, but he seemed like he was trying to get his shit together.
Raelynn, just kind of pissed me off. She was an addict who was prickly as hell and was kind of a bitch to everyone else. She didn’t strike me as grateful for the help her brother and his friends were offering her in a place to stay and a job. Her behavior smacked a bit of entitlement.
These two are so broken there’s no way they should have worked, but they did. They had a ton of ups and downs, but they keep you on the edge the entire book, waiting for what they could possibly do to either get caught in their secret relationship or mess things up beyond repair. I was hooked.
