Sin and Ink (Sweetest Taboo #1) by Naima Simone

There's sin, and then there's literally going-straight-to-hell sin...

Being in lust with my dead brother's wife pretty much guarantees that one day I'll be the devil's bitch. But Eden Gordon works with me, so it's getting harder and harder to stay away. I promised my family—and him—I would, though.

My days as an MMA champion are behind me. But whenever I see her, with those wicked curves and soft mouth created for dirty deeds, it's a knock-down fight to just maintain my distance. "Hard Knox" becomes more than just the name of my tattoo shop. However, surrendering to the forbidden might be worth losing everything...

Naima Simone is another new author to my list and I will be looking for more from her Sweetest Taboo series. I didn’t really think that falling in love with the widow of your brother was all that taboo. But, I’m sure that for some that’s really shocking. I figure if he didn’t knock his brother off or arrange it so his brother died so he could have Eden… we’re cool.

Knox is one of those strong, brooding types who suffers in silence. I couldn’t blame him. He has reasons for feeling the way he does. For example, his mother is a raging bitch. That’s bound to impact the family dynamic. I don’t care if she lost a son, what she puts Knox through is just shameful. I wondered why he didn’t just cut ties with his mom altogether.

Eden was incredibly young when she met Connor (the dead brother). I’m not surprised she fell in love with Connor, by all accounts he was a great guy, but the way she depended on Knox and used him all while being blind to his feelings and what was going on, made it hard for me to sympathize with her. She redeemed herself by the end, but it was touch and go there for a while.

In the next book in this series we get a step brother / step sister romance. I’m sure there’s no way this could be awkward… and I can’t wait.
