*Warning/SPOILER- this story does deal with a disturbing matter youth and rape.

Starting over is never really easy but after being left at the altar, Jade Roberts finds herself doing just that. More humiliated than hurt, she takes her best friend Marj’s offer to live with her and her brother, Talon. While waiting for her bar results, Jade get a job helping out at the Steel’s winery.

“Talon was the brother I’d never met. When Marjorie and I were in college, her older brothers, Jonah and Ryan, often visited. They were tall, muscular ranchers from Colorado, complete with cowboy boots and Stetsons. All the Steel siblings, Marj included, had dark hair that was nearly black. I admit I swooned a little when I first saw her”

Talon is the loner of the family. He keeps to himself and is very closed off. One thing is for certain, he was not looking forward to his new house guest. When he meets Jade, he is taking with her. There is something about her that draws him to her.

“You’re the only thing I’ve ever wanted in my life,” he whispered.”

This was an easy read for me. It had me intrigued. A secret romance with a little bit of suspense and mystery. Talon has secrets as do the rest of Marj’s brothers.

The author did a great job keeping you guessing. The chemistry between Talon and Jade is off the charts. Poor Jade never knew which way was up or down when it came to Talon and his mood swings. This book is heavy on the hot sex (not that I am complaining) I just wish there was a little more depth to the characters. I am not one to complain because I know stories are an escape for most but I had a huge issue with her job, her boss and the situation. Small town or not, it just wasn’t realistic. I felt like after she got her dream job and finding herself in a conflict of interest situation to have her say that her job isn’t something she thought she wanted to do anyway? At the beginning of the story is what she was worried about the most. I guess it threw me off.

This story is suspenseful and definitely leaves me with a ton of questions that I am hoping with get answered in the next books.
