Joy Ride (Big Rock #5) by Lauren Blakely

Let’s be honest, ladies. A good man is a lot like the perfect car. You want a hot body, an engine that purrs, and superior performance under the hood. You probably also crave a ride that can go all night long.

I’m at your service.

Like the custom cars I build with class and sophistication, that’s exactly how I treat a woman. But don’t worry. I absolutely do my best work dirty…both in the shop and between the sheets. Work and play keep me plenty busy, until a certain sexy brunette reappears in my life and throws a wrench in all my plans.

This woman drives me insane. With longing. With lust. With every-damn-thing. But I kept my hands off her when I worked with her before, and I can damn well do it again now that’s she’s the competition.

After all, you don’t sleep with the enemy, even if it’d be one helluva joy ride?

Let’s be honest. If you’ve read any of the other books in the Big Rock series, you know that Max is not the cuddliest of the men. He has some serious dedication to his business, he’s a serial one-night-stander and he does NOT fuck around when it comes to his business.

And I understand. He’s worked hard to become the best at what he does.

Too bad he let his temper, his lust for a woman who worked for him, and his inability to own up to possibly making a mistake cost him and his business when he fired Henley years ago. She was the yin to his yang, the Bonnie to his Clyde…they were perfect for each other. He was never going to find another woman as talented as she was and as obsessive about classic cars and he blew it! Damn it man! Slow down and think before you fly off the handle.

As for Henley, she should have kneed him in the nuts and made him listen rather than walking away. She knew her shit. Yes, a mistake was made, but everyone makes mistakes and Max needed to be called on his rush to place the blame solely on her. Regardless of what he believed, I’m still not sold on the idea that the whole issue that caused their split was totally Henley’s fault.

I’m so glad that Blakely brought these two back together because they ended up being one of my favorite couples of the series. Even though Max could be kind of a dick at times, he was still a good guy, a good friend and a boss who cared about his employees. And even though Henley did let Max off the hook way to easily, in my opinion, she came back strong and proved she deserved to be in their business. This entire series is a fun read and you’re going to become invested in all of these couples.
